Steve Alpert ’79

Former Senior Executive, Studio Ghibli

Steve Alpert was a senior executive at Studio Ghibli for fifteen years, helping to promote the studio’s films to an international audience. His 2020 memoir, Sharing a House with the Never-Ending Man: 15 Years at Studio Ghibli, describes what it was like to work for Japan’s premiere animation studio and its reigning genius, Hayao Miyazaki. Steve is also the author of Kyoto Stories, a book about a young American living in Kyoto in the 1970s. He speaks Japanese and Chinese, having lived in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Taipei for a total of over thirty-five years. Steve lives in New Haven, Connecticut.
